Kristen Campbell tallied her 3rd shutout of the season and the Badgers continued their torrid pace on the power play as they defeated Ohio State 3-0. Abby Roque scored with the player advantage in the second to give Wisconsin the 1-0 lead heading into the final frame. Daryl Watts doubled the lead with an empty-netter with 1:21 to go and Mekenzie Steffen added a power play goal of her own with :42 left to earn the 3-0 win. On Saturday, Mark Johnson became the first Division I women’s hockey to reach 500 career wins as the Badgers swept the weekend with a 7-3 win. Liz Schepers put Ohio State on the board first with a goal midway through the opening period. But Britta Curl and Maddie Rowe responded with power play goals before the period break to make it 2-1 Wisconsin after one. Steffen scored early in the second to extend the lead, but Ohio State responded. Freshman Brooke Bink and Schepers each tallied a goal to tie the game by halfway through the second. It was in the third period that the Badgers pulled away. Steffen, Sophie Shirley, Roque and Watts each scored in the third to lead Wisconsin to the 7-3 win. With that late goal, Watts has scored in each of her first six games with the Badgers. She leads the nation with 7 goals and 18 points.

(2) Minnesota at Robert Morris

The Gophers survived a scare on Friday thanks to Taylor Wente’s overtime power play goal that gave Minnesota a 4-3 win. Sarah Potomak scored first for Minnesota, but Robert Morris responded with goals from Natalie Marcuzzi and Jaycee Gebhard to take a 2-1 lead early in the second. Alex Woken scored on the power play midway through the game to tie it at 2 and Gracie Ostertag netted her first as a Gopher to give them the 3-2 lead with under eight to go in the game. But the Colonials used an extra attacker in the final minute to tie the game with a Michaela Boyle goal. Wente’s extra-frame goal secured a 4-3 win. In game two, Marah Wagner scored first for Robert Morris to take the early lead, but Amy Potomak’s short-handed goal tied it up midway through the first. She added another goal in the second to extend Minnesota’s lead to 2-1 heading into the final frame. Emily Curlett tied the game on the power play just 1:15 into the third period, but the Gophers took control from there. Madeline Wethington gave Minnesota the lead again just 39 seconds later. Sarah Potomak, Alex Woken and Catie Skaja scored unanswered goals to give the Gophers the 6-2 win and weekend sweep.

(3) Northeastern at Syracuse

Friday’s game was scoreless well into the third period when Kristen Siernachesky put Syracuse up 1-0. Brooke Hobson responded on the player advantage less than two minutes later to tie the game and it looked like the game was headed to overtime. But Mia Brown found the back of the net with 23 seconds left to earn the 2-1 win for Northeastern. On Saturday, Syracuse once again scored first as Kelli Roswell put the Orange up 1-0 just 3:33 into the game. Kate Holmes tied it for Northeastern and Katy Knoll tallied the first of the team’s four power play goals to have the Huskies up 2-1. Lindsay Eastwood tied it up, but Chloe Aurard’s extra attacker goal gave Northeastern a 3-2 lead heading into the first period break. Lauren Bellfontaine netted a power play goal for Syracuse :50 into the second, but from there it was all Northeastern. Aline Mueller and Aurard added extra-attacker tallies to make it 5-3 heading into the third. Matti Hartman iced the win with a goal in the third to earn the 6-3 win and weekend sweep.

Minnesota State at (9) Minnesota Duluth

Claire Butorac had Minnesota State up 1-0 after the first period. Sydney Brodt tied it up for Minnesota Duluth with less than a minute to go in the third. Emily Antony gave the Mavericks the lead early in the third, but Gabbie Hughes responded and forced overtime, where Brodt scored :26 in to give the Bulldogs the win. On Saturday, Anna Klein gave UMD the lead midway through the first and they would not relinquish it. Hughes, Ashton Bell and Monique Aanenson all scored to put the Bulldogs up 4-0 before Madison Oelkers put the Mavericks on the board and denied Minnesota Duluth the shutout.

Merrimack at (10) Boston University

The second half of the first period saw a flurry of activity that had Merrimack out 2-1 at the first period break. Julia Nearis scored just after the midway point to have BU up 1-0, but Merrimack responded with two goals in less than three minutes from Dominika Laskova and Megan Fergusson

(10) Boston University at New Hampshire

Abby Cook scored on the power play early in the first period to put Boston University on the board first, but New Hampshire responded with three straight goals. Meghara McManus, Emily Rickwood and Lauren Martin all scored to have the Wildcats up 3-1 six minutes into the second period. Sammy Davis cut the deficit in half near the end of the second, but that’s as close as BU would get. Carlee Turner’s power play goal in the third ensure the 4-2 win for New Hampshire.
