While AHA teams weren’t able to pick up any non-conference wins last weekend, three games went down to the wire.

Robert Morris was dominated by North Dakota 8-0 on Friday, but Saturday was a different story, with the Colonials battling the Fighting Sioux to a scoreless tie though the first 56 minutes before eventually falling 2-1.

Canisius dropped a 3-0 decision at Wisconsin on Friday, but almost pulled off the upset the next night, losing a wild 6-5 contest in overtime.

AIC reversed the pattern, dropping a tough 1-0 decision at Minnesota State on Friday before the Mavericks won by a more comfortable 5-2 margin on Saturday

Three conference series resulted in a pair of splits and Rochester Institute of Technology taking three points at Army to pad its lead in the AHA standings to six points. The Tigers and Black Knights skated to a 1-1 tie on Friday with the Tigers able to pull away for a 5-2 win on Saturday.

Connecticut and Mercyhurst split, with the Huskies winning 3-1 thanks to 35 saves from goaltender Garrett Bartus. Saturday was a different story with the Lakers rolling to a 9-4 win.

Air Force was able to pull off another last-second (literally) comeback to gain a 5-5 draw as Jaques Lamoureux got the game-tying goal with 0.6 seconds left in regulation. Sacred Heart rebounded the next afternoon to win 4-2.

Finally, Niagara was the better team on Friday at Holy Cross, winning 5-2. Newcomer Cody Campbell made 35 saves in his first collegiate start. On Saturday, Adam Roy starred in net for the Crusaders, stopping 47 of 48 shots to earn a 5-1 win.

How’d I do?

I went 8-4-2 to improve to improve to 62-40-11 (.597) on the season. My guest analyst Eric Richardson was 6-6-2, so I move to 6-4 so far against my opponents, including the last five matchups in a row.
