{"id":78431,"date":"2017-07-17T14:54:33","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T19:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=78431"},"modified":"2017-07-17T14:54:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-17T19:54:33","slug":"mike-zannella-leaves-skidmore-bench-named-assistant-mens-coach-at-elmira","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp-admin.uscho.com\/2017\/07\/17\/mike-zannella-leaves-skidmore-bench-named-assistant-mens-coach-at-elmira\/","title":{"rendered":"Zannella leaves Skidmore bench, named assistant men&#8217;s coach at Elmira"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Zannella.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-78433\" alt=\"Zannella\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Zannella-150x133.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"133\" \/><\/a>Elmira has announced the appointment of Mike Zannella as assistant men&#8217;s hockey coach for the upcoming 2017-18 season.<\/p>\n<p>Zannella, who was also named head golf coach, takes over coaching duties from former assistant Tim Crowley, who has assumed head coaching responsibilities for EC&#8217;s women&#8217;s hockey program.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to have Coach Zannella join Elmira College and look forward to him bringing a renewed energy to both the men&#8217;s golf and men&#8217;s ice hockey programs,&#8221; said Elmira VP of athletics Pat Thompson in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>Zannella comes to Elmira after a one-year coaching stint with Skidmore.<\/p>\n<p>He spent two years playing professional hockey in both the Federal Hockey League and the Southern Professional Hockey League after four years playing at Buffalo State, graduating in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am extremely excited to join the Elmira College family,&#8221; Zannella added. &#8220;It is a great privilege to serve and represent an institution with such strong history and tradition as Elmira College.
