Boston College’s John Gaudreau scored three goals and the United States had five power-play goals as the U.S. National Junior Team defeated the Czech Republic 7-0 Wednesday to advance to the semifinal round, where it will face Canada on Thursday.<\/p>\n
[scg_html_wjc2013] “Today, we played outstanding from the goalie out to our defensemen and forwards,” said Team USA coach Phil Housley in a news release. “I think we’re coming into our own as a team. It’s always good to get the first goal and then in the second period, our power play was clicking and we pulled away. We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s semifinal game against Canada.”<\/p>\n
Michigan defenseman Jacob Trouba and Seth Jones (WHL’s Portland Winterhawks) each posted four assists in the game and goaltender John Gibson (OHL’s Kitchener Rangers) earned the shutout with a 31-save outing.<\/p>\n
Miami forward Riley Barber added two goals of his own, while Ryan Hartman (OHL’s Plymouth Whalers) and J.T. Miller (AHL’s Connecticut Whale) rounded out the scoring. <\/p>\n
