{"id":39471,"date":"2011-11-09T12:31:23","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T18:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=39471"},"modified":"2011-11-09T12:31:23","modified_gmt":"2011-11-09T18:31:23","slug":"five-northern-michigan-freshmen-face-trial-for-bike-thefts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp-admin.uscho.com\/2011\/11\/09\/five-northern-michigan-freshmen-face-trial-for-bike-thefts\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Northern Michigan freshmen face trial for bike thefts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five Northern Michigan freshmen will go to trial next month on misdemeanor charges involving stolen bicycles.<\/p>\n<p>Dylan Walchuk, Mitch Jones, Jake Baker, Eric Walker and DJ Vandercook are all alleged to have committed the crimes on or about Sept. 23.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They all involved thefts of bikes on campus and people who were in possession of those bikes,&#8221; Marquette County assistant prosecuting attorney Glenn Sarka told the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.miningjournal.net\/page\/content.detail\/id\/568934\/5-NMU-hockey-players-face-bike-theft-charges.html?nav=5006\">Marquette Mining Journal<\/a><\/em>. &#8220;We&#8217;re set for trial, there was no (plea) agreement at pretrial.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>All five players are being represented by Marquette attorney George Hyde III. They waived their arraignments and a pretrial conference was held Oct. 27.<\/p>\n<p>According to NMU, the players are all going through the NMU student discipinary process for university code violations as well as an athletic review committee for disciplinary infractions.<\/p>\n<p>Jones has two goals and two assists this year, Baker has one assist, and Walchuk leads all NMU freshmen in scoring with a goal and four assists.<\/p>\n<p>Walker and Vandercook have not appeared in any games this season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five Northern Michigan freshmen will go to trial next month on misdemeanor charges involving stolen bicycles.
