{"id":34774,"date":"2011-02-07T11:31:08","date_gmt":"2011-02-07T17:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/?p=34774"},"modified":"2011-02-07T11:31:08","modified_gmt":"2011-02-07T17:31:08","slug":"hockey-east-to-honor-three-with-founders-medal-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp-admin.uscho.com\/2011\/02\/07\/hockey-east-to-honor-three-with-founders-medal-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Hockey East to honor three with Founder&#8217;s Medal Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: small;font-family: NewsGothicStd-Oblique\"><span style=\"font-size: small;font-family: NewsGothicStd-Oblique\">Hockey East announced on Friday that three former league administrators have been chosen to receive the league&#8217;s Founder&#8217;s Medal Award.<\/p>\n<p>Bob DeGregorio, Stu Haskell and Brendan Sheehy will be honored during the season for their contributions to the league over their professional careers.<\/p>\n<p>DeGregorio served as athletic director at Merrimack for 19 years and was the fourth Hockey East commissioner, serving for three seasons (1993-1996). DeGregorio also oversaw the elevation of Merrimack&#8217;s men&#8217;s hockey program from Division II to Division I status in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>Haskell was the third commissioner of Hockey East, serving for five years (1988-1993). He also was the athletic director at Maine for five seasons (1982-1987).<\/p>\n<p>Sheehy served as the league&#8217;s supervisor of officials for 12 years (1995-2007) and played a key role in developing new officials and creating the observers program.<\/p>\n<p>DeGregorio and Sheehy will be presented their medals in the pre-game ceremony at Merrimack on Feb. 12 vs. UNH at Lawler Arena, while Haskell will be honored on Feb. 11 before Maine&#8217;s game vs. Vermont.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hockey East announced on Friday that three former league administrators have been chosen to receive the league&#8217;s Founder&#8217;s Medal Award.
