The No. 1-ranked RIT women’s hockey team, along with Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, raised $10,219 for Finger Lakes Health in conjunction with Geneva General Cardiology Associates to help “Black Out Heart Disease” last Friday and Saturday as part of the Tigers’ two-game series against No. 4 SUNY-Plattsburgh.<\/p>\n
RIT wore special black jerseys that were auctioned off online, raising $6,927. Sophomore Danielle Read had the highest-selling jersey at $550. Katie Stack and Sarah Dagg’s jerseys each sold for $500. Every jersey sold for at least $225. In addition, Zeta Tau Alpha helped sell 300 t-shirts.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Ritter Arena was filled to a capacity crowd of 2,100 fans, which
\nis a new Division III women’s hockey record for a regular season game.<\/p>\n
“I am extremely proud that over the course of the weekend, our players and
\nZeta Tau Alpha sorority were able to raise $10,219 for Finger Lakes Health
\nto help ‘Black Out Heart Disease,'” said RIT coach Scott McDonald in a statement. “The community support was tremendous, from
\nfilling Ritter Arena to capacity on Friday, to another great crowd on
\nSaturday, and most importantly, their generosity to help support a great
