Miami’s Will Weber was hospitalized Saturday after his neck was cut by a skate blade late in the first period of a game against Northern Michigan in Oxford, Ohio.

According to a Miami release, Weber was alert and in stable condition after being transported to a hospital.

A Miami spokesperson said he was expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday.

The cut caused excessive bleeding, and with 2:59 remaining in the period, the teams were sent to the locker rooms for an early first intermission.

“We were worried about him [Weber] coming into the locker room but then we found out that he was alright,” Miami senior Andy Miele told the school’s website.

The RedHawks won the game 9-1.
