A statement was released Wednesday afternoon regarding the Jan. 28 incident at Judy’s Tavern involving Fighting Sioux players Robbie Bina, Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie:<\/p>\n
\nUniversity of North Dakota men’s hockey student-athletes Robbie Bina, Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie apologized today for their roles in a recent incident at a Grand Forks business.<\/p>\n
The three student-athletes said the following:<\/p>\n
Said Bina: “On Sunday, January 28, I unfortunately made a mistake that I will not be able to take back. I do not hold anybody responsible other than myself. I would also like to apologize to the University of North Dakota and the surrounding community for my actions on that date.”<\/p>\n
Said Toews: “I would like to apologize to the UND community and young Fighting Sioux hockey fans as well as my teammates for my selfish actions. I have take complete responsibility for what has happened and I hope that the focus can be restored upon my teammates and the rest of the 2006-07 Fighting Sioux hockey season.”<\/p>\n
Said Oshie: “I would like to apologize to the University of North Dakota and to the fans for my actions. I take full responsibility for what I did and I would especially like to apologize to my teammates and coaches for any negative distractions that I brought to the team in this critical part of our season.”\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The student-athletes said they would not address media questions on the matter for the remainder of the UND hockey season.<\/p>\n
In addition to being subject to local laws, all three student-athletes will subject to University of North Dakota disciplinary guidelines, said UND coach Dave Hakstol. Disciplinary actions will not be made public, Hakstol said, in accordance with University policy.<\/p>\n
