A strong start to the 2005-2006 season didn’t amount to much for the Auggies. They opened the season with three-straight wins over Lake Forest, St. Norbert and Wisconsin-Stout. But an eight-game slide at the end of the conference season capped off a disappointing season.<\/p>\n
First-year coach Chris Brown should be in good shape offensively as Augsburg returns its top-three scores in seniors Aaron Johnson (13-36-49) and Critter Nagurski (21-13-34) and junior Danny Carlson (7-18-25). Johnson led the MIAC in scoring with 32 points in league play while Nagurski led the league in goals with 15 against conference foes. <\/p>\n
But as the old saying goes, “defense wins championships”, and defense could be a problem for the Auggies this year. Last season, Augsburg gave up five or more goals 10 times last season, and each time, the Auggies lost. <\/p>\n
Sophomore Andy Kent is the only goaltender back from last season. He played in four games last season, going 0-3-0 with a 5.15 GAA and a .845 save percentage. But the Auggies did add a pair of juniors in Adam Hendel and Michael Henrichsen who could jump right in as the starter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
