Minnesota&#8217;s athletic department made the announcement in a brief statement Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Briggs will sit out the Golden Gophers&#8217; Oct. 6 game against Maine and the Oct. 13-14 series against Wayne State.<\/p>\n<p>Briggs appeared in 32 games last season for Minnesota, amassing a 21-6&#8211;3 record, a 2.55 GAA and a .904 save percentage.
