{"id":23426,"date":"1996-07-24T17:36:53","date_gmt":"1996-07-24T22:36:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uscho.com\/1996\/07\/24\/whitehead-hired-at-uml\/"},"modified":"2010-08-17T19:54:05","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T00:54:05","slug":"whitehead-hired-at-uml","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp-admin.uscho.com\/1996\/07\/24\/whitehead-hired-at-uml\/","title":{"rendered":"Whitehead Hired at UML"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As first indicated here last Friday, Tim Whitehead has officially been hired as head coach at UMass-Lowell.<\/p>\n<p>Whitehead was strongly endorsed by outgoing coach Bruce Crowder, and also received support of many fans and media personalities. <\/p>\n<p>Whitehead, 35, was an assistant for five years at UMass-Lowell, and will fill the position vacated when Crowder jumped to Northeastern last month. Whitehead also served as an assistant at Maine in 1990-91 and at Middlebury from 1988-90. <\/p>\n<p>Whitehead will inherit a River Hawks club that went 26-10-4 last season, finishing second in Hockey East. They went all the way to the NCAA Quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual runner-up Colorado College. <\/p>\n<p>However, Whitehead will have his work cut out for him.
