Harvard held first place for a night, North Dakota is moving on up in the WCHA, several teams, including Colgate and Penn State, have great freshmen, and Minnesota and Boston College have looked a little vulnerable.
Candace and Arlan look at the middle teams in the conferences, where the teams are jockeying fiercely for playoff positioning, debate the state of the CHA, and look at Chelsea Laden’s chances of challenging the NCAA shutout mark.
Candace and Arlan review what they learned from the big series between Minnesota and Wisconsin and the first battle between Boston College and Boston University, debate finish orders in the ECAC, Hockey East, and the WCHA, look at players having good and bad seasons, and pick the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award.
The IIHF U-18 Women’s World Championships were won by the U.S. over Canada, and featured plenty of future collegiate stars, including U.S. captain and Ohio State recruit Jincy Dunne, who scored the game-winner in overtime for the U.S.

Quinnipiac director of athletics and recreation Jack McDonald will retire in June 2015 after 20 years in that position, according to the New Haven Register. Harvard has been selected as the top team in the ECAC women’s coaches’ poll released Monday. With nine first-place votes, this marks the first time since 2008 the Crimson has earned the top spot in the poll. In addition, the league also announced its preseason all-conference team.
