Colorado College moved to within one point of first place in the WCHA standings after battling to a 3-3 tie with Minnesota-Duluth on Friday night at the World Arena.

The Tigers appeared ready to grab a share of the lead with Wisconsin after Joey Crabb’s power-play goal gave CC a 3-1 lead with 9:41 remaining in the second period, but the Bulldogs rallied to tie the game with a pair of goals in a span of 3:04 late in the frame.

“It was a hard-fought point,” CC head coach Scott Owens, whose team extended its undefeated streak to 11 games (9-0-2). “I’m disappointed that we didn’t win, but we could have lost.”

UMD had a chance to claim its biggest win of the season late in the third period when the Bulldogs had a 4:49 power play after CC’s Jimmy Kilpatrick was ejected for spearing. The Tigers allowed just four shots while shorthanded.

Jack Hillen and Brett Sterling scored CC’s first two goals. Duluth got tallies from Evan Schwabe, Josh Miskovich and Travis Gawryletz.

“I thought Duluth was pretty good tonight,” Owens said. “I’ve heard they’ve had a hard time this season, but they’re a good team. This is a huge point for us.”

The two teams will face off again on Saturday night.
