Chandy Kaip scored three goals and assisted on another to lead New Hampshire to a 7-3 victory against Princeton Sunday afternoon at the Whittemore Center.<\/p>\n

New Hampshire came out of the gate strong, outshooting Princeton 23-3 in the first period and posting two goals. Carolyn Gordon, who scored both Wildcat goals in Saturday’s 2-1 overtime win, gave UNH a 1-0 lead at 14:03 when she jammed the puck into the goal from a crowd in front of the net. Kristen Thomas and Stephanie Jones were credited with assists. <\/p>\n

Kaip increased UNH’s lead to 2-0 at 18:34 on an unassisted tally. Kaip skated out of the left corner into the slot with the puck and fired a backhander into the net. <\/p>\n

The Tigers moved with a goal on Katharine Maglione’s second goal of the season 1:13 into the second period. Lisa Rasmussen assisted on the goal. <\/p>\n

Kaip then completed her hat trick with tallies at 3:07 and 12:50 to give New Hampshire a 4-1 lead. Jones tipped in a shot by Janine Goulet at 14:13 to extend UNH’s lead to 5-1 through two periods of play. <\/p>\n

Sarah Butsch trimmed the margin to 5-2 at 4:06 of the final period with her first collegiate goal, also assisted by Rasmussen. New Hampshire’s Annie Fahlenbock answered back 1:32 later with a shorthanded goal. Lindsay Hansen closed out UNH’s scoring at 15:28 and Susan Hobson closed the scoring for Princeton with 2:35 remaining on a goal assisted by April Brown. <\/p>\n

Wildcat goaltender Jen Huggon finished with 18 saves. For Princeton, starting goalie Megan Van Beusekom stopped 30 shots, including 21 in the opening period. She surrendered five goals in the first and second periods.
