Senior David Deeves scored two goals to lead Canisius to a 3-1 victory over visiting Fairfield Saturday night at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.<\/p>\n

The Griffs improve to 5-3-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, while Fairfield falls to 2-9-1 overall, 1-6-1 in the MAAC.<\/p>\n

Canisius took the early 1-0 lead as Deeves scored his first of the season at the 9:06 mark of the opening period. The Griffs added another goal in the second period as freshman James LeCuyer tallied his second of the year with 7:08 remaining, giving Canisius a 2-0 advantage after 40 minutes.<\/p>\n

Fairfield cut the Griffs’ lead in half with a goal by Cody Wojdyla at the 8:25 mark of the third period. <\/p>\n

Deeves restored the two-goal margin just over five minutes later with his second of the night with 6:33 remaining in the game.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Rob Martin added two assists on the evening, while freshman goalie Bryan Worosz turned away 16 shots in the victory. Fairfield’s Michael Wolfe stopped 25 shots in the loss. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
