Bemidji State outshot the Findlay Oilers 42-18, but Findlay won the battle where it counted — on the scoreboard — in a 3-1 College Hockey America victory Saturday at the Clauss Ice Arena.

One night removed from dominating Findlay in a 9-4 win, BSU fell behind 3-0 and scored its only goal of the game with its goalie pulled and just 36 seconds to play in regulation.

Darryl Somerville put Findlay on the board first, netting an even-strength goal at 9:47 of the first period. Kris Wiebe staked Findlay to a 2-0 advantage at 19:02 of the first with what would be the game-winning goal. Somerville put home his second goal of the game to wrap up scoring for Findlay, hitting a five-on-five goal at the 12:03 of the third.

The Beavers were held scoreless until 19:24 elapsed in the third, as Jeff McGill erased the shutout with an extra attacker lending a hand.

Dannie Morgan got the start in net for BSU and took the loss. He faced just 18 shots, but allowed three goals in 54:30 as the Beavers played 5:30 with an empty net. Jamie VandeSpyker got the win for Findlay, stopping 41 of 42 BSU shots on net.

Neither team was able to generate any heat with its power play, as BSU went 0-for-6 on extra-man opportunities and Findlay was held 0-for-4. The game was a penalty-filled affair, with the Oilers being whistled for 13 penalties for 34 minutes and BSU eight penalties for 16 minutes.

Bemidji State falls to 4-5-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the CHA with the loss, while Findlay improves to 3-5-0, 1-3-0.
