Rookie head coach and alumnus Tom Cranfield added a second upset in as many nights to his unblemished record as Cortland beat host Fredonia 4-1 in the championship of the SUNYAC Challenge.<\/p>\n

Matt\u00a0Donskov took advantage of a 5-on-3 just 2:37 into the contest to put the Red Dragons up for good. Nate Gagnon got the game winner at 5:38 for the visiting squad.<\/p>\n

Fredonia scored its only goal of the night at 17:57 of the second period, as Dan\u00a0Rohanna got his first of the season.<\/p>\n

Dave Ambuhl scored late in the third to make it a 3-1 game, and Mike Pelletier added an empty-netter with eight seconds left.<\/p>\n

Fredonia’s Will Hamele, who had shut out Buffalo State in the tournament’s first round, made 36 saves. Cortland’s John Larnerd stopped all but one of the Blue Devils’ 30 attempts.<\/p>\n

Cortland (2-0-0) hosts Hobart Oct. 30 in its next matchup, while Fredonia (1-1-0) takes on Milwaukee School of Engineering at the Buffalo State All Sport Invitational, Friday, Oct. 26.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
