Junior right wing Steve Charlebois broke a 2-2 tie 5:12 into the third period, giving Alabama-Huntsville a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Bentley in non-conference play at the Von Braun Center Saturday night.

Charlebois’ second goal of the series capped a two-goal third period for the Chargers and gave UAH a sweep of the season-opening series with the Falcons (0-2).

Bentley, which led at both intermissions (1-0 after one, 2-1 entering the third), received outstanding goalkeeping from freshman Simon St. Pierre. He turned away 44 of the 47 shots he faced, including 33 through the first two periods.

Freshmen also accounted for four of Bentley’s five points in the game, the only exception being the goal scored by senior center Paul Monzione at 11:28 of the first.

The Chargers tied the game up at 10:32 of the second on a power-play goal by freshman center Keith Rowe. It didn’t stay 1-1 for long, however, as freshman Bryan Goodwin answered with a power-play goal for the Falcons at 16:29.

UAH, expected to contend for the CHA title, erased the Bentley lead 2:32 into the second, with sophomore left wing Steve Milosevski scoring the equalizer a little less than three minutes before Charlebois’ game-winner.

Sophomore Adam MacLean was in goal for the Chargers for the second straight night. He made 19 saves as UAH outshot the visitors, 47-21.

Bentley will compete in the Q Cup at Quinnipiac University next Friday and Saturday, with the Falcons meeting the host team Friday at 7 p.m. in the second semifinal.
