Providence College defeated Concordia University , 5-4, on Saturday, October 6 in an exhibition game at Schneider Arena.<\/p>\n

Concordia took a 2-0 lead, scoring two in the first 4:02 of the game. Myriam Boudreau and Dominique Rancour each scored power play goals for the Stingers to give them an early lead.<\/p>\n

The Friars bounced back at the 9:24 mark of the first period as freshman Rush Zimmerman scored on a powerplay. <\/p>\n

The Friars tied the game at 2-2 at the 9:21 mark of the second period when defenseman Kelli Halcisak’s pass found Jackie Tamsin who beat Concordia goaltender Lori Posluns.<\/p>\n

The Friars took a 3-2 lead with seven minutes remaining in the second period as Tamsin tallied her second goal of the game. <\/p>\n

The game was tied at 4-4 with 9:24 remaining when Jenn Butsch scored on a wrist shot high over the Concordia goaltender for the game-winner.<\/p>\n

Providence oushot Concordia 30-8. Posluns made 24 saves for Concordia while PC’s Amy Quinlan and Amy Thomas combined to make four saves.<\/p>\n

The victory over Concordia was PC’s first win over the Stingers since the 1991-92 season.<\/p>\n

The Friars open the regular season on Friday, October 12 as they travel to face defending NCAA champion, Minnesota-Duluth in Duluth, Minn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
