It was out with the old and in with the new Friday night, as freshmen accounted for all of North Dakota’s scoring in a 4-1 exhbition win over the University of Manitoba, the final game in the 29-year history of the “old” Ralph Engelstad Arena. The Sioux will begin play in their new, palatial Ralph Engelstad Arena next Friday night against Minnesota. <\/p>\n
In a game in which seniors Chad Mazurak, Tim Skarperud, Andy Kollar and Adrian Hasbargen were the only upperclassmen to see action for UND, the Sioux were sparked by the play of several newcomers. <\/p>\n
Brandon Bochenski led the Sioux attack with two goals and an assist. Fellow freshmen Brian Canady and Ryan Connelly rounded out the scoring. Connelly also added an assist. <\/p>\n
David Lundbohm chipped in with three assists for the Sioux, who went 2-for-6 on the power play. Jake Brandt earned the victory after making eight third-period saves. Kollar started the game and made 10 saves in the first period before giving way to Ryan Sofie, who stopped 5-of-6 second period shots. <\/p>\n
