ESTERO, Fla — Nick Saracino and Brandon Tanev scored 44 seconds apart in the third period to give No. 1 Providence a 2-1 victory over No. 4 Boston College in the third-place game at the Florida College Hockey Classic on Tuesday.

Boston College thought it had tied the game with 8.2 seconds remaining, but referees waved off a potential goal, and Germain Arena did not have video review capabilities.

As that developed, a light fixture failed, causing a half-hour delay before the final seconds could be played.

Nick Ellis made 26 saves for the Friars (13-1-3), whose 19-game unbeaten streak ended in a loss to Cornell in the semifinals.

Teddy Doherty scored, and Thatcher Demko made 27 saves for the Eagles (13-4-1), who have lost three straight.
