Plattsburgh won its second straight women’s Division III national championship Saturday evening with a 3-2 win over Elmira on home ice at the Stafford Ice Arena.<\/p>\n

The game pitted No. 1 (PLattsburgh) versus No. 2 (Elmira) and drew 1,245 spectators.<\/p>\n

Giovanna Senese opened the scoring for Plattsburgh with a shorthanded goal 7:14 into the first before Ashley Ryan tied the game at the 1:51 mark of the second.<\/p>\n

Bridget Balisy put the Cardinals back on top at 14:48 of the second before Kayla Meneghin made it a two-goal cushion at 12:23 of the third period.<\/p>\n

Elmira’s Olivia Nystrom made it interesting when she scored at 12:52, but the Soaring Eagles could not find the equalizer.<\/p>\n
