The ninth-seeded Bowling Green Falcons completed the upset sweep of the second-seeded Miami RedHawks with a 4-3 overtime win.

Bowling Green defenseman Grady Moore snuck a slapshot just inside of Miami netminder David Burleigh at 9:55 into the overtime period to lift the Falcons to the first quarterfinal-round upset of a No. 2 seed in the history of the CCHA Playoffs.

Miami’s Pat Leahy opened up the scoring on the night, tallying the game’s first goal at 10:46 in the first period.

Leahy’s goal was the difference through the remainder of the first period and a scoreless second period, as Burleigh stopped 13-of-13 Falcon shots through two periods.

Bowling Green hit its rhythm in the third period, tallying consecutive goals by Kevin Bieksa and Ryan Murphy to surge into the lead.

Miami’s Evan Cheverie briefly cooled off the Falcons with a sharp slapshot at 11:02.

Murphy once again put the Falcons on top at 11:32 with another score, but Miami’s Nick Jardine came through in the clutch, tying the game at 18:38.

Miami dropped to 20-16-2 on the season while finishing at 17-10-1 in the CCHA. The RedHawks, who have now lost seven-consecutive CCHA postseason games, lost a home playoff series for the first time in the history of the program. Bowling Green, which upset third-seeded Lake Superior in the first round last season, continued its role as CCHA postseason dark horse and improved to 15-18-5 on the year.
