LOWELL, Mass.<\/b> — C.J. Smith scored and added two assists as No. 9 Massachusetts-Lowell beat No. 13 Quinnipiac 6-3 on Friday.<\/p>\n
Six River Hawks players scored goals, and Kevin Boyle stopped 24 of 27 shots.<\/p>\n
Lowell (2-0) broke open a 2-1 game after two periods with four goals in the third, with Smith starting it on a power play.<\/p>\n
Robert Francis, Joe Gambardella and Michael Colantone also scored for the River Hawks in the final 20 minutes.<\/p>\n
Sam Anas, Justin Agosta and Andrew Taverner scored for the Bobcats (1-1), who got 20 saves from Michael Garteig.<\/p>\n
