Connecticut was defeated by MAAC rival American International, 3-1, on Friday evening. The Huskies’ record drops to 4-5-2 overall, 4-2-1 in MAAC play, while AIC improves to 4-7-1 overall, 4-4-1 in conference action.<\/p>\n
AIC’s Bryan Bassler opened the scoring at the 4:05 mark of the first period on a breakaway with assists from Patrick Tabb and Yellow Jacket goalie Chance Thede. Guillaume Caron tallied a power-play goal for AIC’s second goal of the night midway through the second period.<\/p>\n
In the third, UConn’s Mike Boylan found the puck in front of the net and placed it past Thede to put the Huskies on the board at the 4:45 mark during a power-play opportunity. Ciro Longobardi and Ron D’Angelo assisted on the tally.<\/p>\n
Andy Luhovy gave the Yellow Jackets the insurance goal for the win with under a minute remaining in the stanza.<\/p>\n
