Scott Allen scored with 5:35 remaining to lift Alaska-Anchorage to its second WCHA victory of the season, a 5-4 victory over Minnesota State on Friday in front of an announced crowd of 2,437 at Verizon Wireless Center.<\/p>\n

The Seawolves (5-7-1, 2-7-0 WCHA) broke a 3-3 tie in the third period with a goal by Mickey Spencer. The Mavericks answered back with Zach Lehrke’s second goal of the game, but Allen put UAA ahead for good.<\/p>\n

The Mavericks (3-10-0, 2-7-0) pulled goalie Austin Lee with 1:09 remaining but were unable to convert with the extra attacker. <\/p>\n

Minnesota State opened up the scoring when Eriah Hayes scored just 1:06 into the game. The Seawolves tied the game with a power-play goal by Jordan Kwas.<\/p>\n

In the second period, the Mavericks’ Zach Lehrke scored short-handed at 4:54 while Michael Dorr was off for tripping. The Seawolves answered back with an unassisted goal by Brett Cameron at 9:45 and a power-play goal Curtis Leinweber at 11:49.<\/p>\n

Justin Jokinen scored for Minnesota State to tie the game headed to the third.<\/p>\n

Shots were fairly even for the two teams, with the Mavericks edging the Seawolves 27-24. Seawolves goaltender Rob Gunderson picked up his second win of the season, improving to 2-3-1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
