Denver’s Greg Barber scored to tie the game after Stephen Wood gave Providence a 3-2 lead and the eighth-ranked Friars and the Pioneers skated to a 3-3 tie on Saturday at Magness Arena.<\/p>\n
The Friars (7-2-3) took a 1-0 lead at 8:36 of the first period, when Mike
\nRobinson beat Pioneers netminder Wade Dublielewicz with a slap shot from the right faceoff circle. <\/p>\n
Less than 30 seconds later, the Pioneers tied the game at 1.
\nDenver defenseman Bryan Vines took a shot from the blue line that deflected off a Providence defender and past PC netminder Boyd Ballard.<\/p>\n
At the 15:05 mark, Denver (4-7-1) took a 2-1 lead on a Bjorn Engstrom goal. Denver’s Judd Stauss made a perfect pass to Engstrom, who then broke in one-on-one with Ballard and beat him with a low wrist shot.<\/p>\n
Providence tied the game at the 16:40 mark of the second on a Matt Libby power-play goal. Libby fired a shot from the point that was blocked by a Denver defenseman. Libby gathered the puck and fired a second shot that slipped past Dublielewicz.<\/p>\n
Wood gave the Friars a 3-2 lead at 12:58 of the third. Robinson won a faceoff in the Friars’ zone. Wood collected the puck, wrapped it around the net and stuffed it puck past Dublielewicz for his first collegiate goal. <\/p>\n
