Freshman Gayle Shalloo netted a goal and an assist Sunday as Providence defeated Niagara, 3-1.<\/p>\n
Providence got on the scoreboard first when junior forward Jackie Tamsin scored on a pass from Shalloo from behind the net at 12:17 of the third period. <\/p>\n
Freshman defenseman Meredith Roth added a power-play goal at 15:01 when she scored on a rebound from a Darlene Stephenson for what proved to be the game-winning goal.<\/p>\n
Niagara reduced PC’s lead to 2-1 at the 15:50 mark when sophomore Valerie Hall beat Friar junior goaltender Crystal Nicholas. Providence added an insurance goal at 18:58 as Shalloo scored.<\/p>\n
