Freshman Shane Saum tallied his first collegiate hat trick to lead Air Force to a 7-1 win over Division III Augsburg and a sweep of the series.<\/p>\n

Saum put the Falcons on the board first with a power play goal at 7:23 but Jaro Cesky tied the game for the Auggies just 30 seconds later.<\/p>\n

Saum’s second goal came with 5:22 remaining int he first period as Brian Reaney sent a centering pass from the right corner that Saum punched in.<\/p>\n

In the second period Derek Olson scored on a two-on-one. Then Scott Bradley scored on the power play to make it 4-1 and soon after Andy Berg’s power play goal made it 5-1.<\/p>\n

With 15 seconds left in the second period Kyle Fransdal stole the puck in the neutral zone and went in uncontested for the shorthanded breakaway goal.<\/p>\n

Saum collected his hat trick goal in the third period with 1:22 left in the game. He won a faceoff and walked in to put the puck past the right post for the 7-1 win.<\/p>\n

Air Force (6-3-1) has a current three game streak heading into a two game series at Wayne State next weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
