Connecticut’s Eric Goclowski finished what he started with a blast just 1:49 into the overtime period to lift the University of Connecticut men’s ice hockey team a 4-3 victory over Canisius Saturday night.

The win improves the Huskies record to 2-4-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, while the Ice Griffs fall to 2-2-2 and 1-1-2 in league play.

Goclowski got the Huskies on the board first by connecting on a power play shot off assists from Michael Goldkind and Mike Anderson at the 3:31 mark in the first.

Canisius evened things going into the first intermission with a goal from Chris Duggan on a Matthew Schewchuk pass with 13:22 in the first.

The lone goal in the second stanza came from UConn’s Matt Herhal on a short handed goal at 18:21.

Canisius wasted no time in knotting the score again as Paul DiPasquale was assisted by Todd Bisson and Duggan 1:16 into the third on a power play opportunity.

Just over four minutes later Herhal answered on a UConn power play to put the Huskies back on top.

With 6:31 remaining, Canisius’ Steve Birch sent the contest into overtime, where Goclowski ended the scoring.

Connecticut’s home stand continues Friday, Nov. 10, as they host Fairfield in a conference tilt scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and Canisius will host Mercyhurst in MAAC action on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
