Senior defenseman Bobby Allen scored a power-play goal with just under six minutes to play, and the Boston College Eagles held on to beat the Denver Pioneers 3-2 to sweep the teams’ two-game series before a crowd of 5,973 at Magness Arena.

For the second time in two games Denver scored first, when freshman Lukas Dora notched a power-play goal to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead midway through the first period.

Late in the same period Boston College answered with a power-play goal of its own, with freshman forward Chuck Kobasew taking a feed from senior forward Mike Lephart to knot the game at 1-1. For Lephart, it was his second consecutive two-assist performance for the Eagles.

Boston College converted on two of its seven power-play opportunities for the game.

The Eagles took the lead for good three minutes into the second period on sophomore forward A. J. Walker’s first collegiate goal, on a pass from sophomore defenseman Bill Cass.

Trailing 3-1 with 3:22 remaining in the game, Denver (0-2-0) took advantage of a Boston College delayed penalty and pulled its goaltender for a six-on-five opportunity. That paid off when Kevin Doell scored to bring the Pioneers within one goal, but they could get no closer.

BC goaltender Scott Clemmensen stopped 23 Pioneer shots to earn his third win of the season. Adam Berkhoel made 24 saves in net for Denver.
