Corinne Rosen scored a pair of goals and Ohio State opened its season with a 4-1 victory over Findlay on Sunday at the OSU Ice Arena.

Rosen scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal midway through the first period. With the Buckeyes ahead 1-0 on a Emma Laaksonen power-play goal three minutes earlier, Rosen scored unassisted.

She extended the lead to 3-0 at 6:47 of the second period with OSU’s second power-play goal of the night.

Findlay’s Shelbi Fletcher made the score 3-1 a half-minute later, on assists from Melissa Oliver and Stasia Bakhit.

“I was very pleased with the effort and our intensity in this game,” OSU coach Jackie Barto said. “I am pleased that we scored three power-play goals and took advantage of our specialty teams. The biggest part of the game for us was the third period, how we came out and finished the game off. We were up, 3-1, and we wanted to forecheck hard and put them on the defensive. We stepped it up another notch. Overall, an outstanding effort capped off by a very solid third period.”

Ohio State’s Katie Frohreich closed the scoring with a 5-on-3 power-play goal 6:51 into the third.

Erin Blair had 35 saves for Findlay. April Stojak had 16 for Ohio State.
