After a scoreless first period, Zach Jordan broke the game open for Omaha at 7:47 of the second with a quick wrist shot goal from just in front of the crease, roofing it top corner stick side. Jake Randolph made it 2-0 at 13:26 when came speeding down the left side of the slot and picked up a rebound of a David Pope shot and ripped it in. Grant Gallo made it 3-0 just over two minutes later with a wrist shot from the hashmarks of the left circle that went in off the pad of Ryan Larkin. When Tyler Vessel scored a power-play goal at 18:40 of the period, it seemed the game was out of reach, but Omaha has the worst defense in the country, and Miami rallied in the third with three goals before falling short. Phil Knies started it with a power-play goal at 1:41 of the third, and after Knies scored again at 17:28 to make it 4-3, Omaha had to hold on for the win.
