Peter Aubry made 24 saves and his Mercyhurst Lakers blanked the Cansius Ice Griffs, 4-0, on Friday evening for Aubry’s second shutout of the season.
The Lakers got a power play goal from Louis Goulet at 4:54 of the first and the 1-0 lead stood for the game.
The Lakers made it 2-0 when Jody Robinson scored on the power play at 5:54 of the third and then Mark Chambers and Adam Tackaberry scored at 11:39 and 15:18 to complete the scoring.
The Ice Griffs had two goals disallowed in the game. Both goals were disallowed because the net was ruled to be off its moorings.
Aubry has now allowed just one goal in his last 213:52 and only five goals in the six games that he has played.
The Lakers (4-1-1, 4-0-1 MAAC) and Ice Griffs (2-3-2, 1-2-2 MAAC) will take the series to Buffalo and the HSBC Arena for the first half of the Punch Imlach Classic on Saturday afternoon.
