Kinsel’s overtime winner lifts Wisconsin-River Falls past Elmira and into women’s D-III title game

Chloe Kinsel’s power-play goal at 9:36 of overtime gave Wisconsin-River Falls a 4-3 win over Elmira and a berth in the Division III women’s championship game Saturday night against Plattsburgh.

The game was tight, with the score tied after each period from the Stafford Arena on Plattsburgh’s campus.

Kinsel, Carly Moran and Dani Sibley each posted a goal and an assist for the Falcons (23-5-2), while Haley Nielsen also scored.

River Falls goalie Angie Hall finished with 15 saves.

For the Soaring Eagles, Maddie Evangelous registered two goals and an assist. Maddy Jerolman added a goal and two assists and Louisa Lippiatt Durnell chipped in assists on each goal.

In goal, Kyle Nelson turned aside 27 shots for Elmira (22-5-1).

Elmira and Middlebury will play for third place Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT with the title game set for 7 p.m. EDT.
