Lucia passes Woog for Minnesota’s coaching wins lead after beating Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Kyle Rau and Seth Ambroz scored second-period goals as No. 15 Minnesota beat Ohio State 4-2 on Friday, making Don Lucia the winningest coach in Gophers hockey history.

The win was Lucia’s 391st, passing Doug Woog on the all-time Minnesota win list.

Rau broke a 2-2 tie 6:10 into the second period and Ambroz doubled the Gophers’ advantage later in the period.

Justin Kloos and Sam Warning scored in the first period for Minnesota (19-11-3, 10-4-3 Big Ten), but Craig Dalrymple and Tyler Lundey equalized for Ohio State (11-18-2, 6-11) on the following shift each time.

Adam Wilcox made 24 saves for Minnesota, which is tied with Michigan for first place in the Big Ten with three games remaining.

Christian Frey stopped 28 shots for the Buckeyes.
