Minnesota-Duluth junior forward Caleb Herbert will bypass his senior year with the Bulldogs after he recently signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals.
Herbert was Washington’s fifth-round pick (142nd overall) in the 2010 NHL draft.
This season at UMD, Herbert led the team with 31 points on 12 goals and 19 assists.
For his career at Minnesota-Duluth, Herbert tallied 32 goals and 57 assists (19 each year) for 89 points.
Once signed, Herbert was assigned with the AHL’s Hershey Bears, Washington’s top affiliate.
